Job announcement: Technical Assistant in a research project

The Institute for the History of Science of the Polish Academy of Sciences is looking for a MA or Ph.D. student with good knowledge of English to work as a technical assistant (10 hours per month) for a professor at the Institute, starting in May 2022. The project is titled Minority Cultures on the Periphery of Science: The Jews and the Circulation of Scientific Goods (13th–17th c.).

S/he will assist in finding and picking up books in the library, making scans and copies, filling in forms for interlibrary loans, and translating very short descriptions into Polish, among other similar tasks.

Experience in localizing secondary literature related to the medieval and early modern periods in libraries and archives is essential. Some knowledge of Hebrew would be helpful, but it is not indispensable.

The remuneration is 34 PLN per hour; the contract will be for 23 months.
